GCI Digital Literacy Practicum – 19 April 2017

The IEEE Internet Initiative was invited to participate in a briefing session at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi, India, on 19 April 2017.

The U.S. Department of State Office of International Communication and Information Policy (CIP) will host the Global Connect Initiative (GCI) Digital Literacy Practicum. The closed webinar will be broadcast to digital economy offices at all U.S. posts around the world to provide digital economy officers in the field with more information on U.S. ICT priorities and to answer their questions on important issues related to the digital economy.

This event is part of the Bureau of Economic and Business Affairs’ Office of International Communications and Information Policy (EB/CIP) Digital Economy Officers Program launched in 2016 to present a series of live, educational sessions at posts overseas with Washington policy makers and other stakeholders.

IEEE Internet Initiative Vice-chair Deepak Maheshwari will moderate the discussion, which includes Anita Patil-Deshmukh, PUKAR (Partners for Urban Knowledge Action and Research), and Rajat Kathuria, Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER), who will focus on digital literacy in the context of internet inclusion, addressing:
